Unit 6 I like music that I can dance to. 主讲:魏训刚 Grammar: 定语从句 1. 基本概念 如果一个从句在主句中用来修饰某一名词或代词(有时也可用于修饰整个主句),起定语作用,这个句子就是定语从句。 被定语从句所修饰的名词或代词叫做先行词。引导定语从句的词叫关系词,关系词既连接定语从句及其先行词,同时又在定语从句中充当一定的句子成分。 关系词分为关系代词和关系副词两类。 2. 关系代词的用法 引导定语从句的关系代词有: that,which,who,whom,whose。 ① that可用于代指人或物,通常在从句中作主语或宾语。作宾语时可省略。 The man that helped you is Mr. Smith (作主语) The man that you saw is a teacher.(作宾语) It’s a box that has a strange shape. (作主语) The book that I’m reading is very interesting. (作宾语) ② which用于代指物,通常在从句中作主语或宾语。作宾语时可省略。 He works in a school which has over five thousand students.(作主语) The car which my uncle bought last month is very fast.(作宾语) ③ who用于代指人,通常在从句中作主语,非正式情况下也可作宾语。作宾语时可省略。 Did you see the person who stole it?(作主语) The person who you just talked to is Mr. Li.(作宾语) ④ whom用于代指人,在从句中作宾语。通常可省略。 This is the man whom I met in Canada last month. (作宾语) ⑤ whose可用于代指人或物,是所有格,在从句中作定语。 The man whose bike was stolen is my neighbor. (作定语) The building whose windows face south is our school. (作定语) ⑥.关系代词who, that, which等在定语从句中作主语时,其谓语动词的人称和数应与句中的先行词保持一致。 如: The man who lives next to us is a policeman. Those who want to go write down their names here. 1. prefer [用法点睛] prefer sth. 更喜欢某事 prefer doing/ to do 宁愿做某事 prefer (doing) sth to (doing) sth. 同…相比更喜欢… 如: I prefer music that has great lyrics. I prefer sitting/ to sit. I prefer classical music to pop music. He preferred walking to sitting. 2. dance to the music 随着音乐跳舞 sing along with the music 伴着音乐唱歌 3. take …to…带……去…… 我的爸爸经常带我去公园。 My father often takes me to the park. 请把这个盒子拿到我的办公室。 Please take this box to my office. 4. remind of提醒;使记起 [用法点睛] remind sb. of sth.使记起某人/事 That song always reminds me of our first meeting. 5. A CD called Heart Strings called/named…为过去分词短语结构做定语,表示“被叫作、被称为、被命名为……的人/物”. 如: 一个叫小明的男孩 a boy named Xiaoming 一只叫旺财的小狗 a small dog called Wangcai 你看过一部叫《2012》的电影吗? Have you seen a movie called 2012? 6. be important to sb.对某人来说重要 be important for sb. to do sth.对某人来说做某事重要 Nothing could be more important to me than my family. 对我们来说及时完成作业是很重要的。 It was very important for us to finish our homework in time. 7. look for 我的词典丢了。你能帮我找一下吗? My dictionary is lost. Could you help me look for it? 8. fun n. [U] 快乐;乐趣 [用法指南] have fun 玩得高兴;过得开心 It’s no fun doing sth.做某事不快乐 for fun为了好玩;为了开心 sb. is (great/good) fun某人是个有趣的人 What fun it is to do sth.!做某事多么有趣啊! 如: The children were having so much fun. It's no fun eating on your own. I believe that killing animals for fun is wrong. You'll like her, she's great fun. 9. be sure to 肯定会做某事;一定要做某事 He's sure to get nervous and say something stupid. Be sure to let us know when you come back. 10. on display 展览;陈列 Some of his pictures are on display in the hall. 11. over the (past/last 3) years 多年来 12. It does have a few good features, though. (1) does表示强调,通常译为“的确;确实” I do like English. He did go to the party yesterday. (2)though在此处为副词,放在句尾,表示转折,意为“然而;尽管如此”。 We were at school together. I haven't seen her for years, though. He is very weak. He smokes a lot,though. though还常用作连词,意为“虽然;尽管”,通常置于句首或句中。不能与but连用。 They're coming next week, though I don't know which day. 13. stay away from 与……保持距离;远离 离我的猫远点。 Stay away from my cat. 你最好离他远点。 You’d better stay away from him. 14. to be honest 老实说;说实在的 To be honest, I don’t think he has a chance of winning. 15. be in agreement (with sb. on/about sth.) A decision will not be made until everyone is in agreement. The whole family was in agreement with her about/on what they should do. 16. even if 即使;甚至 即使你打的,你仍然会错过火车。 Even if you take a taxi, you'll still miss your train. 17. miss ① vt. vi.错过;遗漏 [用法点睛] miss doing错过做某事 He got up late this morning and missed the early bus. He tried to hit the bird with a stone but he missed. The car just missed hitting a boy. ② vt. 思念;想念 Will you miss me? She missed her family very much. 18. whatever ① =what的强调式 Help yourself to whatever you want. I am willing to pay whatever price you ask. ② 不管怎样;无论如何(=no matter what) Whatever I suggest, he always disagrees. (=No matter what I suggest) Don't miss the train, whatever you do. 19. suit vt. 适合;使感到满意 Chicken would suit me fine. There’re a lot of restaurants to suit all tastes. 20. taste ① vt.品尝 It's always best to keep tasting the food while you're cooking it. There was a lot of hard work before we first tasted success. ② link. v. 尝起来有……的味道 [用法点睛] 后面常接形容词作表语。 The fish tastes delicious. The food tasted better than it looked.
